Love is what we need

The essence of our relationship with God is to receive love so that we can give love. To love and be loved. This is the core of the Christian faith. Not the religious activities – attending or hosting ceremonies, dutifully reading the bible, praying, etc. By all means we should do those things because they deepen our understanding, faith and can draw us closer to God and people however, they are a means to an end. Not the end goal.

In the Good Samaritan story, we see the priest, the Levite, the Samaritan. The former 2 are those who on the surface, you would expect to know and be closer to God more than the latter. Yet they were unable to show empathy. Perhaps they presumed the man dead and did not want to ‘defile’ themselves. A life was almost lost for this. People are more important than religion.

We are here for love. We are here to love. Love started it all. Everything Jesus did/said was full love and because He loved. We can only give what we have received. Let not our religion be in vain. May we not be a people whose mouths are full of the law and religious jargon, time filled up with religious activities, and with hearts empty of love.

Love is all we need.

Don’t Stop Believing

“And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well advanced in years….But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John….Now after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying, “Thus the Lord has dealt with me, in the days when He looked on me, to take away my reproach among people.””

Luke‬ ‭1:6-7, 13, 24-25‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

There’s no such thing as too late with God.

The odds against you do not matter.

Wait actively – pray in the wait.

Don’t stop praying.

Even when in doubt, pray. Praise also.

When it feels like your prayers will not be answered, praise, praise & worship some more.

Keep on asking. Don’t stop seeking. Keep knocking.

The doors will open.

The doors WILL open.

Your prayers do not fall on deaf ears. There’s an appointed time for its fulfilment. The answer is held back for a Wonderful reason.

Zecharias & Elizabeth waited a long time. Their answer came at a time when it was no longer biologically possible. Had they never had to wait, they wouldn’t have been the ones who birthed and raised the one who ushered in The One who bought us a new covenant with God through the sacrifice of Himself.

Don’t stop believing.
